Something New This September: Introduction to “The Quiet Shift” in the words of Rachel Ward (- your instructor)

Does your mind ever really switch off? Or do you get to the end of the day and realise you can barely remember much of it — swept from one thing to the next, checking, planning, reacting, doing, without ever quite landing anywhere?

If any of that sounds familiar, I want to tell you about something new I'm bringing to ‘Younique Wellbeing Studios’ this September.

Introduction to The Quiet Shift is a five-week introductory course built around one simple idea: most of us spend nearly all our time in ‘doing mode,’ and very little in ‘being mode’ — actually here, actively noticing, calmly resting in the present rather than getting swept up in worries about what's already happened or what's still to come.

The course draws on well-established, evidence-based approaches to train our attention to steady a busy mind and ease stress, but you don't need any experience, background knowledge, or particular belief system to take part. It's for anyone who wants a little more balance — not so you can squeeze in one more thing, but so you can actually flourish in the life you've already got.

Over five weeks, each session builds on the last:

Week 1: Stepping Off the Treadmill: How our mode of mind can influence our experiences

Week 2: Anchoring the Mind: Taking back your attention when your mind feels scattered

Week 3: Discovering Joyful Moments: Noticing the small glimmers we usually rush past

Week 4: Finding Stillness in Motion: Getting out of your head and finding a bit of physical grounding

Week 5: Taking the Quiet With You: Building an everyday toolkit you can actually use in real life

Every session also includes time for a cup of tea and a chat. This isn't just a quick pause—it’s an intentional part of the course. Learning to treat ourselves with a little more kindness and self-compassion is always easier in good company, and the supportive community we build in these quiet moments is just as important as the practices themselves.
