Nancy Burge, MBACP BA(Hons) Person-Centred Counsellor

Do you need to talk to someone experienced in bereavement and loss who will value and not judge you, and who will listen rather than tell you what to do?

Nancy is an experienced counsellor who specialises in loss, bereavement and life transitions, offering a gentle, person-centred approach that gives you the time and space to process what you're experiencing.

Nancy offers sessions in person, on the phone, or by video call, allowing you to access support in whatever way feels most comfortable for you.

  • Individual counselling: From £45 per 50-minute session

  • Available: [Days/times to be added]

“Sadly, there's never a magic wand in life that can make everything better again. However hard things seem, there is usually a way to sit with life's issues in a more comfortable way - we can find this way together in our sessions.”

Nancy's approach:

Nancy provides person-centred counselling to adults of all ages, creating a supportive therapeutic environment where you can explore your feelings and better understand what may be going on for you. Often, clients experience a 'shift' when given the chance to express their emotions in this safe, non-judgmental space. Nancy won't tell you what to do or push you in any particular direction - instead, she walks alongside you as you find your own way through difficult times.

Areas of experience:

Nancy's professional experience is both diverse and deep. Since completing her training in 2019, she has worked with people addicted to alcohol and drugs, women survivors of domestic abuse, and, more recently, has focused on bereavement counselling within a hospice setting. She also has many years of experience working with young people in care and care leavers in Children's Services.

This breadth of experience means Nancy understands the many forms that loss and transition can take - whether that's the death of someone close to you, the end of a relationship, major life changes, or the loss of health, identity or the life you thought you'd have.

Personal understanding:

Nancy came to counselling later in life and brings a wealth of lived experience to her practice. She has first-hand experience of major life transitions, having moved to the area from Essex, and understands the anxiety that can come with life events and changes. Nancy also lives with Multiple Sclerosis, giving her insight into what it feels like living with constant change and the feelings of powerlessness that chronic conditions can bring. This personal understanding allows her to relate to clients with genuine empathy and compassion.
