More about Step & Pump:
Step aerobics is a choreographed workout where you step up, around and down from a raised platform in different patterns to boost your heart rate and strengthen your muscles.
In our Step & Pump class, you'll move to upbeat music that keeps you motivated and makes the time fly by. Don't worry if you've never done step before - the moves range from simple step-ups to more complex patterns, and our instructors will guide you through each one.
The beauty of step work is in its versatility. The intensity depends on the height of your step and the types of movements you do on it. You're in control of your own workout - modify the height, adjust the arm movements, and work at a pace that feels right for you today. This class genuinely suits all abilities and fitness levels.
What you'll experience:
Step aerobics improves overall fitness by building strength, reducing fat and boosting your cardiovascular health. You'll constantly engage both mind and body throughout the workout, which helps with coordination, balance and cognitive function. On average, medium-intensity step work can burn around 300-400 calories per hour, while the weight-bearing nature of the exercise strengthens your bones and builds lean muscle mass.
Step is musculally balanced, working both the right and left sides of your body equally throughout the session. Your legs, core and cardiovascular system all get a proper workout, whilst the choreographed nature of the class keeps your brain engaged. Research shows that exercise on a step platform can boost your mood and energy levels, so you'll likely leave feeling energised and accomplished.
The best part? You don't need to be a dancer or have perfect rhythm. You'll pick up the patterns as you go, and before you know it, you'll be stepping with confidence alongside everyone else.
