If traditional pilates focuses on precision and control, fitness pilates takes those principles and adds a dose of real-world practicality. Our 50-minute session is designed for how you actually move through life. Our Wednesday session includes pelvic floor strengthening.

Kate is a Fitness Instructor at YouNique who specialises in a range of classes including fitness pilates, fitness yoga and different move-to-the-beat classes.

You'll still work with the core principles that make pilates so effective - mindful breathing, concentration, balance and control - but the movements are more dynamic and functional. Think exercises that translate directly into everyday activities: lifting shopping, climbing stairs, bending to pick things up, or reaching overhead. This approach strengthens your body in ways that genuinely make daily life easier.
The beauty of fitness pilates is its adaptability. Whether you're brand new to exercise or have been active for years, every movement can be modified to match your current fitness level. Working with joint limitations? Recovering from an injury? Our instructors will show you variations that keep you safe whilst still challenging your body appropriately. There's no keeping up with anyone else - you're encouraged to work at your own pace, building strength, endurance and flexibility gradually as your body adapts.
What you'll gain:
Fitness pilates puts particular emphasis on strengthening your back and core muscles, which are fundamental to almost everything you do. As these muscles become stronger and more coordinated, you'll likely notice improvements in your posture, greater ease of movement, and reduced discomfort in your joints. Many people find their body feels more toned and capable, with that satisfying sense of functional strength that comes from training movements rather than isolated muscles.
This class welcomes everyone, regardless of age, gender or fitness background. If you have any health concerns, we'd recommend checking with your GP before starting, but once you're here, we'll meet you exactly where you are and help you progress at a pace that feels right for your body.
