More about Balance & Stability:
Through a blend of targeted exercises and mindful movement, you'll work on improving your equilibrium, strengthening your core and training the smaller stabiliser muscles that often get overlooked. Balance and stability exercises strengthen the muscles, joints and ligaments that support your body's equilibrium.
You'll also develop what's called proprioception - your body's awareness of its position in space. This might sound technical, but you'll feel the difference in everyday moments: confidently navigating uneven pavements, carrying shopping bags without feeling off-kilter, or simply moving through your day with more steadiness and ease.
Falls are one of the leading causes of injury, particularly for older adults. This class actively works to reduce that risk by improving your stability and sharpening your reflexes. But the benefits go well beyond fall prevention. As you strengthen the muscles responsible for maintaining alignment, you'll find yourself standing taller and moving with greater ease, often reducing back pain and other posture-related discomfort.
What you'll experience:
Our instructors guide you through a variety of exercises - some where you hold steady positions, others where you move dynamically whilst maintaining control. You'll work on major muscle groups like your core, hips, knees and shoulders, alongside the smaller stabiliser muscles that keep you upright. Don't worry if you feel unsteady at first - that's precisely the point. With consistent practice, you'll notice your confidence growing alongside your physical strength.
Everyone can benefit from better balance, whether you're an athlete or not. You need good balance to walk, get out of a chair, tie your shoes and move through daily life with confidence. This class gives you the tools to maintain your independence and keep doing the things you love, now and for years to come.
